Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, had a hammer named Mjölnir. Mjölnir was considered a fierce weapon that could level mountains and summon lightning with every blow. In this poetry blog, every Thursday, (Thor’s Day), Mjölnir will forge only song - sing of the mysteries and beauties of the world.

THE GATES OF THE ORPHANAGE

To make a home
out of homelessness,
to find peace
when at war,
a sanctuary
in the jungle...

To find yourself,
your very salvation,
when you are most lost,
can be a simple thing, really,
if you are willing just to walk
through the gates of the orphanage.

When you do
the gifts will come flooding in
as if from worlds away
like donations made
to the Goodwill,
so the child in you can know
that kindness is
the true house of belonging.
