Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, had a hammer named Mjölnir. Mjölnir was considered a fierce weapon that could level mountains and summon lightning with every blow. In this poetry blog, every Thursday, (Thor’s Day), Mjölnir will forge only song - sing of the mysteries and beauties of the world.

INSTRUCTIONS

Abandon them
along with

any prescriptions
for the way things

ought to be.
Rid yourself of

the compulsion
to control.

Any voices
you hear

inside yourself
angling for

hard-won outcomes,
feed them like seeds

to the finches.
Then wait

for the song
to emerge.

A melody will come—
and with it

instructions
you are meant to follow

and ones actually
worth listening to.
