Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, had a hammer named Mjölnir. Mjölnir was considered a fierce weapon that could level mountains and summon lightning with every blow. In this poetry blog, every Thursday, (Thor’s Day), Mjölnir will forge only song - sing of the mysteries and beauties of the world.

NESTING

the shade of an almond tree—
the nest to the nests of redbreasts

the world is like this
it  gives us everything we need
to make it our home,
for us to feel like
we belong here

every day is an assemblage,
an intricate architecture
made from

mud, twigs, and leaves,
human hair and animal fur,
moss, pine needles, and litter,
dental floss and cob webs,
broom bristles, straw and stem,
pebbles, string, and paper,
and the true glue: spittle

let’s use it all,
and our imagination,
to make our own
place in the shade
